Two guys, who used to be Figure Skating dads when our daughters were younger. As the kids wanted to stick around competitions for full days, we killed time filming and photographing skaters, initially for fun. This turned into parents requesting if we could either photograph or video their kids programs. At some point we ended up still being at the rink while our kids were already ready to go home.
We decided to change the model, we started a small business (and yes that is parallel to our day jobs) invested in some equipement and started live streaming figure skating competitions to the world for parents, grandparents and friends alike to be able to watch international competitions or local competitions for those who had stay at home.
Now as we both have our day jobs, we are not in this for the money, we agreed though that running SYS.O should not cost us any money. When our three daughters were still skating we managed most by covering travel cost thru our little business saving some private cost here and there. Nowadays, with the kids older and no longer competitively skating all the travel, hotels and off course licensing fees and equipment has become a real cost.
At SYS.O we want to keep everything we do as accessible as possible and hope you all appreciate that we have substantial cost to do what we do. So as a result some competitions we agreed with organiser will be streamed behind a paywall to recover cost, others are free to watch. We offer skaters, their family or coaches the opportunity to purchase simple video footage for private use or training purposes. To improve programs, focus training on specific elements and so on.
Because of this model it is extremely disappointing to be asked if livestreams can be watched back afterwards so a screen grab cab get people the video for free. For us it is simple, as soon as our activities start costing us out of pocket money Show Your Skill .Online will stop to exist.
So please, accept some livestreams are paid streams, video footage is supposed to be purchased thru our webshop rather than screen grabbed (this is a copyright infringement from a legal perspective). Donations are always welcome if you want to leave us some support.
